About AzRHA

Setting & Maintaining the Standard for Quality & Safety in Recovery Housing in Arizona.

The Arizona Recovery Housing Association (AzRHA) is a statewide association of recovering housing providers dedicated to providing quality residential recovery services. AzRHA Certified housing providers in your area can be located using the search on the top of this page—choosing an AzRHA recovery housing provider means choosing a quality provider.

AzRHA has members representing multiple Arizona cities and stakeholders representing the City of Mesa, Parole, Probation, Police Departments, and the Arizona Department of Corrections. Organizing, oversight, administration, relationship building, and meeting facilitation is provided by Our Common Welfare (OCW), A Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) funded recovery project of Women in New Recovery (WINR).

AzRHA operates for the betterment of the community, addicts, alcoholics, and their families. It is AzRHA's aim to mainstream the concept of recovery in the community, demystify recovery, and improve the reputation and operation of the recovery housing industry. To accomplish these goals, AzRHA is committed to working hand in hand with recovery service providers, state, county, and city organizations, and the community through awareness education and accountability for organizations that provide recovery services.

AzRHA provides education and training, exchanges knowledge and experience, defines and promotes ethics and standards, defines and promotes safety and quality of care service standards, conducts inspection and certification of member programs, and increases community awareness of the value, need, and success of recovery housing programs in our communities.

The association began in October of 2008 with a core group of founding members that worked for more than a year to create the association. AzRHA founding members, working closely with local stakeholders and organizations in other states that have extensive experience in creating statewide associations, created foundational policies, procedures, and documents before opening AzRHA to new membership in November 2009 at OCW's 2nd Annual Opening Doors: Strengthening Recovery Facilitative Housing Symposium.

AzRHA members and stakeholders remain committed to the mission and are excited about the beneficial work being completed to help ensure quality services for recovering individuals in Arizona. If you are interested in joining AzRHA or would like to know more, please contact the OCW office at (480) 733-2688.
